Busy Little Bees is 3!
On May 31st we honor and celebrate 3 years in business! When we look back and reflect on this year it has truly been about nurturing our commitment to being involved within the Bayonne community that stands out most.
For the last 365 days we have been BUSY! We have continued to grow our commitment to education, family engagement, and community service. From hosting free community events, supporting local charitable initiatives, and providing enriching programs in art and summer camp, to welcoming hundreds of families through THE HIVE, we have worked to create meaningful connections both inside and outside our school walls. Together with our staff, families, community partners, and volunteers, we have expanded opportunities for children to learn, create, give back, and feel connected to the city they call home.
While that is a summary of year 3 on the outside, the inside of ownership this year has been rooted in the idea that a child’s childhood is also a parent’s parenthood. I feel like our focus on the whole family rather than just our students has made us stronger and the Busy Little Bees community stronger. Using the ownership platform to create memories and relationships has been so rewarding. There are so many moments where I look around and cannot believe this is my “job”. Thank you to all our friends, families, students, and parents that continue to show up for us, support us, and follow us through the years. A special and sincere, thank you to our staff for making all things possible. I never take a single second for granted of how active and committed they are to our school, our students are community and the support and love that they show me through my leadership.
As we look ahead to year four, we are preparing for a huge expansion, and I cannot wait to see what this next chapter brings. Our mascot Bumble has welcomed his friend Honey, to the Hive! The kids had a blast meeting her on Friday and we danced our way into the start of year 4!
Here’s to so much more ✨🖤🐝
At Busy Little Bees, our students spent time learning about the meaning of Memorial Day and the importance of honoring the brave men and women who have served and sacrificed for our country. 🇺🇸
Some of our classrooms created beautiful red, white, and blue fruit kebab patterns while practicing math and sequencing skills, while others explored patriotic art through fork painting to create American flags. Through hands-on activities, meaningful conversations, and creativity, our little learners were exposed to the importance of remembrance, gratitude, and honoring those who protect our freedoms. Each class had a different story to read with their activity.
We are thankful for all military members and their families as we remember the true meaning of Memorial Day. ❤️🤍💙
Our Busy Little Bees completed one of the most magical learning experiences of the year as we released our butterflies into the world!
Each classroom began this journey with eight tiny caterpillars. Over the past few weeks, our students carefully observed every stage of the butterfly life cycle: from caterpillar, to chrysalis, to beautiful butterfly. The children helped care for them daily by feeding them fruit, checking on their growth, and patiently watching nature transform right before their eyes.
As a school community, we proudly released 73 butterflies together into the sky. Watching their faces light up as the butterflies took flight was truly something special.

We celebrated a VERY special birthday in the hive
Our favorite mascot Bumble celebrated his SECOND birthday with all of his Busy Little Bees friends! Students gathered on the playground for a schoolwide celebration filled with music, dancing, laughter, and tons of excitement.
The highlight of Outdoor Time was the epic birthday party with Bumble and his best friend, the Bayonne High School Bee!
There is nothing sweeter than creating joyful childhood memories together as a school community. The kids had so much fun (the staff too). It really is so much fun when we all get to be together.
Happy Birthday, Bumble! Thank you for bringing so much fun, spirit, and smiles to our hive!
Our Busy Little Bees hosted their Queen Bees for Muffins with Mom. We read books, made bracelets, sang songs together, and enjoyed yummy muffins. Our moms for to spend some of Work Time with our students and played in all their favorite areas. Special shout out to our staff for all their hard work and dedication to giving our moms and students a once in a lifetime memory. This is always one of our favorite events to plan, but this year was extra sweet and sentimental as we dedicated the day to one of our moms who is battling Hodgkins Lymphoma. In honor of her warrior color, we all wore purple to make sure she knows she is not alone in this fight. We are thankful for all of our parents who took the time today to make this event so special. We had over 100 familes in attendance, and it would not have been as special without all of them.
We celebrated Teacher Appreciation Week honoring our superheroes in sneakers! We have 18 beekeepers in the hive who have continued to exceed all expectations. They are a hardworking, dedicated and compassionate group of people. They never shy away from the student experience no matter how challenging that can make their day because there is no such thing as cutting corners! As stressful as teaching can be at times, thy start everyday fresh with a smile on their face and love in their hearts. it is no easy task, but they make it look effortless! We are forever grateful for this team and their commitment to our mission of delivering the best childcare services Bayonne has to offer. A special thank you to our parents for all their love and support this entire year! Our staff truly felt the love and appreciation all week. Thank you to the amazing team in the Hive at Busy Little Bees!
Our bees had so much fun learning about Cinco de Mayo! During Large Group, they listened and learned the Mexican Hat Dance! During Small Group, some classes worked on patterns using the Mexican flag colors, while others decorated their own wooden Maracas! Our bees read many books during Read Aloud and during Work Time, many of the students navigated to the music area to play with the classroom maracas and tambourines!
