In New Jersey, the Preschool Education Aid (PEA) program provides state funding to local education agencies to offer free, full-day preschool to three and four-year-olds. This collaborative partnership between Busy Little Bees and the Bayonne school district helps ensure that all preschool children have access to high-quality learning experiences.
Busy Little Bees follows the district calendar including school closure days and delayed openings. Our normal hours of operation are 8:30-2:30 Monday through Friday. We offer Before and After care services that can be further explained on our website under the Parents Tab. Our students are taught using the High Scope Curriculum, for more information on that please visit the Curriculum tab under the About Us tab.
At Busy Little Bees we do not have any private enrollment for September through June as all eight of our classrooms are partnered to accept the Bayonne district children. The BBOED Registration Department handles our annual registration which occurs in the Spring. Children must be 3 years old on or before October 1st to qualify for registration into that respective school year. For any questions on the registration process please email registration@bboed.org or call (201)858-5581.
In Partnership, there are two district provided personnel that support our school, a Preschool Instructional Coach (PIC) and a Preschool Intervention Referral Specialist (PIRS). Our PIC is Miss Kerry, whose primary role at Busy Little Bees is to coach and assist the lead teachers with the implementation of the High Scope Curriculum. This helps our teachers stay refreshed with ideas and provides a fresh perspective on any challenges a teacher might be facing in their classroom. Our PIRS is Miss Michelle, whose primary role is to work with our students and teachers providing resources and strategies to promote positive social and emotional experiences that directly benefit academic learning. This helps our teachers learn new ways to tackle challenging experiences that arise in the Preschool setting.
The students at Busy Little Bees who have been classified through the Special Education Department receive on-site services as listed in their Individualized Educational Plans (IEP). The Bayonne District provides us with a Speech Therapist, Occupational Therapist, and Physical Therapist who work in our center with the students. These onsite services are only provided to students with an IEP; however, we have listed outside therapy centers at the bottom of our Resources screen under the Parent tab.
