This fall, our class has focused on establishing routines, fostering a sense of community, and celebrating seasonal themes. Exploring early academic concepts such as counting and recognizing letters and shapes through play have nurtured our curiosity and interest in learning, ultimately laying the groundwork for our academic success as we progress through our education. From piecing together construction paper bits and tissue paper squares to make turkeys, to sprinkling sand on rangoli stencils, to exploding a pumpkin with baking soda and vinegar, to painting with ice cubes frozen with food coloring, to rolling toilet paper rolls slathered in sun butter in seeds to make bird feeders, to painting ghosts with glue and shaving cream, to mixing water and oil with pipettes, to making slime, we are always on an adventure in the Gray Room! Each and every day is filled with hands-on, sensory-rich activities that spark creativity and exploration, allowing us to engage with the world around us in a fun, interactive way while developing fine motor skills, problem-solving abilities, and scientific curiosity. Obstacle courses on the playground, walks around the block, and dance parties on our rainbow rug provide us with a much-needed break from structured activities, as we unwind, have fun, and develop important physical skills like balance, coordination, and strength, all while building social connections and expressing ourselves in creative ways. We look forward to filling you in on more of the happenings in the Gray Room as the year progresses!
