All month long our Busy Little Bees learned about Ramadan. We read books, practiced acts of kindness, and made an extra effort to "fill each other's buckets". We learned about Eid Al Fitr, which is a holy Islamic festival celebrated at the end of Ramadan. We celebrated by reading books, talking about the moon/stars, the significance of starting a new day, and each student made their own moon craft. Miss Hana brought in some authentic lanterns that all our students got to see. A special thank you to all of our parents that sent in goodie bags & treats for our students to enjoy. It is always a special day in the hive when we get to celebrate traditions from all different cultures and beliefs as authentically as possible!
Our Busy Little Bees celebrated Holi, which is the Hindu festival celebrated as the Festival of Colors, Love, and Spring. We read books about Holi and explored the powder during Small Group time. Then we gathered in the front of the school to toss the powder, dance, and celebrate together. We even invited our parents to observe and had an amazing turn out! We have an amazing staff at Busy Little Bees who always have an "all in" attitude when it comes to celebrating our school wide events. A special thank you to Miss Gita for her undeniable dedication to leading the Holi event and gathering our materials. We were also lucky enough to have Paul Rocheny with Rocheny Photography capture professional photos of our celebration! Thank you, Paul, for so wonderfully capturing the color and fun!
We had a fun and exciting day at the hive celebrating St. Patrick's Day and Miss Emily's birthday! Some of our classes made leprechaun traps to try to catch Silly McGilly, and on St. Patrick's Day our little bees found a treat from him but did not catch him...maybe next year! Other classes had a St. Patrick's picture puzzle scavenger hunt! We also got to celebrate our fearless leader all day long--thank you Miss Emily for all you do to make the hive a home. You were born on the luckiest day, but really we're the lucky ones to have you!
Silly McGilly is a charming little leprechaun who likes to play tricks on our Busy Little Bees! He only makes his appearance during the St. Patrick's Day season and boy did he bring a sense of whimsy and fun to our school!
It was a busy week as we participated in Read Across America Week at Busy Little Bees! We had 5 fun themes to celebrate throughout the week, and we were so lucky to have 40 volunteer readers read to our students! Each day, one volunteer read a book of their choosing in each of our classrooms. A BIG thank you to our volunteers-these were parents, family members, community members and even some Busy Little Bees staff who all took time out of their day to read to our students. This week wouldn't have been possible without you!
